Ideas for one-day trips from Bourgas:

A day trip from Burgas to Kotel, Zheravna and the “Blue Stones” Rock Phenomenon
We will leave the coast and drive west in the interior of the country to explore the living traditions in the Bulgarian village. We will visit the architectural museum Zheravna, the historical town of Kotel and enjoy the spectacular view of the “Blue Stones” Rock Phenomenon.
Our first stop will be the town of Kotel, situated in the east part of the Balkan Mountain and famous for its carpet industry with centuries-old traditions. We should visit the carpet exhibition in the old Handcrafts School to learn about the fantastic colorful patterns woven by the skilful hands of local masters. We will take a walk in the preserved Old quarter of Kotel which fascinates with its authentic Revival period architecture and rich folklore music calendar.
For lunch we will try some local specialties in one of the cozy taverns in town.
Next we will explore the village of Zheravna, the birthplace of one of the greatest Bulgarian novelists Yordan Yovkov. Zheravna is a place which successfully convinces the visitors that time has stopped for the last two centuries, an architectural museum in the open where life has a different pace that feels a world away from the hustle in the big cities. We will take in the serenity of this mountain town flecked with beautiful flower gardens, tucked behind centuries-old stone facades.
In the late afternoon we will enjoy a chair-lift ride to the Blue Stones Park which covers an extensive area in the eastern part of the Balkan Mountain, north from the city of Sliven. The breathtaking view of the Thracian lowlands from the top of the mountain will certainly remain as one of the best memories from Bulgaria you will have the chance take home in the form of a spectacular photograph.

One-day trip from Burgas to Pomorie and Nessebar
Today we will travel north from Burgas to the charming fisherman’s town Nessebar. The Old Town of Nessebar is picturesquely perched on a tiny peninsula in the Black Sea and is one of the oldest in Europe UNESCO classified monuments. The unique location of Nessebar has attracted the attention of many ancient civilizations which explains why the town has existed as an important maritime centre for more than 9000 years. We will take in the romantic atmosphere while walking along the narrow cobbled streets lined with authentic houses, inviting restaurants and tiny art galleries.
We will have lunch in Nessebar after which we will head to the coastal town of Pomorie famous for producing one of the best Bulgarian white wines you can find on the market. We will visit the cultural highlight of the town - the Beehive Thracian Tomb which dates to the 2-3 century BC and is the only one of its kind on the Balkan Peninsula. Its architecture and construction impresses visitors and archaeologists with its perfect implementation. Architects from different parts of the world have studied the tomb in order to find the secret of its mushroom-shaped dome.
